Helping Sciatica using Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a mixture of science and art, of Chinese and Western Medicine.  Gentle pressure is applied and briefly held to individual limbs.  Healthy muscles resist this pressure effortlessly, whereas a muscle not functioning optimally may test spongy or just give way.  Kinesiology checks neurological pathway responses and also the body’s energy pathways used by the Chinese for millennia, called meridians.

The body is viewed as a whole rather than individual sections, therefore, pain may appear as a physical complaint, as with the case of sciatica, the root of the problem may be somewhere else entirely.  Obviously, structure is looked at, the lumbar vertebrae and the Pelvic area is checked and realigned gently.  The neck may also have an involvement as the spine is intricate and top and bottom work together.  If a person is in a lot of pain, it is possible to test using a third party, this is called surrogacy and can be used to great effect, (also useful for older people, young children or babies).

However as the root often stems from something else, I look at the emotions, if the person is suffering from stress, lack of support in their lives, anger, resentment, fear, grief and a whole range of other emotions that effect us all at some point in our life.  Lack of support in some area of your life can very often be linked with sciatic pain as the pelvis is like a bowl for our emotions and when it reaches overflowing, then pain can occur.

By holding a substance near or in the mouth and testing a muscle it can be identified whether or not a food may be sensitivity or if a nutritional supplement is beneficial for the body.  With food sensitivities, we work towards strengthening the body to tolerate the food if it is necessary to eat it occasionally.  Very often with sciatica it is an imbalance in the body’s Sodium/Potassium level, this is a very important part of body functioning and therefore it is vital to ensure a good balance between the sodium and potassium.  Vitamin E can also help tremendously.

Finally, one component that is not forgotten is the energetic and electromagnetic realm.  We are all made up of energy and everything around us has energy or a vibration.  Meridians, charkas, colour, music, crystals and a host of other tools and techniques can also be tested and incorporated into the treatment where needed.  No two treatments are identical so each treatment is completely tailored to you.
